Daniels Decision

It is through the Daniels v. Canada decision, that Métis peoples are supported by the federal government, as opposed to provincial governments, for improved programs and services such as education, housing, and health care, and have a right to be consulted and negotiated with by the federal government.

Métis peoples, along with the other Indigenous peoples of Canada, possess a strong history, identity, and culture and have made proud contributions to the development of this country. Through the Daniels v. Canada decision, existing inequities could begin to be addressed for Métis peoples.
