One of the many traditional practices of Indigenous culture is the Jingle Dress Dance.
Jingle Dress dancers move lightly, kicking out their heels and moving to the drumbeat. Jingle Dresses are lined with rows upon rows of metal cones that hang from the dress. The cones create a melody as dancers move which mimic the sound of falling rain. The dresses can also be known as Prayer Dresses and represent both healing and pride, a spiritual form of wellness and celebration that links the past and present and symbolizes moving forward with strength and hope.
